A Search Function that will not change the current search results

A few weeks ago I was reading a thread here, a community member was asking about a search function that will let them enter text into the search bar but will have not have other effect and will not change the current search results.
I forgot to bookmark it!

Void proposed this search function to the member as a solution to some need they had about the title bar, not 100% sure.
Anyone know what am talking about?


If not then, is there currently such a function? what about a way of creating it. some faux function that will only enter text into the search bar but not change the list of items current selected.
