'Everything' doesnt show in taskbar

Post by RK76vxo »

When ever I run 'Everything', it doesn't appear in the task bar nor in the alt+f4 window switch. This is very annoying so is there anyway I can fix it?

Also, whenever I switch filters, my file sorting keeps getting reset to Name Ascending. Is there a way to fix that too?

When the results are sorted by a slow, non-indexed type, Everything will revert to a fast, indexed type, like Name (ascending).
Go to Menu:Tools > Options > Indexes and add your favourite sort there.
Example:
- enable Index date created and
- enable Fast date created sort.

Sorry but it's not the same problem. The window doesnt show in my taskbar even when the program is open let alone after I minimize it. In the screenshot , I showed that 'Everything' was open, but there was no line underneath, a white box on top nor anything else that signified 'Everything' had a window open. I couldnt use alt + f4 to find it either. The window is running in the background somewhere, because when I click the icon, it comes back. This is only because, in the settings, I told everything to not create more than 1 window. If I take it off, when I press the icon, new windows are created. So it's not a graphical glitch. I didnt use the X to minimize, I used the '-'.

Have you disabled show_in_taskbar?
-If disabled, Everything will not show in the taskbar or in the task manager.

Please make sure show_in_taskbar is enabled:
  • Copy and paste the following into the Everything search box:
    /show_in_taskbar=1
  • Press ENTER in the Everything search box.
  • If successful, show_in_taskbar=1 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.
  • From the File menu, click Exit.
  • Restart Everything.
Does the issue persist?
