Closing a Steam game makes Everything open up in a new window

A few weeks ago for some reason, whenever I close a Steam game, Everything will open in a new window.

Is there someway of preventing this?

Do you have a hotkey set under Everything -> Tools -> Options -> Keyboard -> Show window Hotkey? -Maybe this is being triggered?



Have you enabled hotkey_user_notification_state
-Everything might be triggering after you exit a full screen application?

To disable hotkey_user_notification_state:

• Copy and paste the following in to the Everything search box:
  /hotkey_user_notification_state=0
• Press ENTER in the Everything search box.
• If successful, hotkey_user_notification_state=0 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.

Are you launching Steam from Everything?
Does the issue only occur if you launch steam from Everything?



Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
• Click the General tab on the left.
• Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
• Uncheck Run as administrator.
• Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
• Click OK.
• Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
• Restart Everything.

All my settings were correct as above.

I finally figured it out.

A few weeks ago Razor pushed a software update that installed Cortex, which I had never used.

It disables Everything when starting a game and re-launches it after the game exits.

I disabled disabling Everything in Cortex Game Booster settings and it works correctly now.
