Solved. Had to put database in installation folder.
Re: Bookmarks disappear on restart of computer/
If you are using the portable version of Everything, please make sure Everything has write permission to the same location as your Everything.exe
Otherwise:
Bookmarks are stored in %APPDATA%\Everything.
Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:

Re: Bookmarks disappear on restart of computer/
Oh, maybe it is. But running Everything from an external HD.`
Thanks very much for that.
It was square checked.
okay. I shut down the program.
I reopened it.
I got "Do you want this program to make changes to your device" I don't want to see that
Going back into settings
Run as administrator is unticked. But Run everything service has gone back to a square tick.
Will try again.
This time will bookmark something and restart computer.
I hit "apply" this time instead of just "okay"

Update.
So Everything is on an external HD.
The settings are in %APPDATA%\Everything.
The everything service once again has the square check mark
The version I downloaded was Everything-1.4.1.1017.x64-Setup.exe
So bookmarks were saved. But still square tick.
Update. Disabled store settings in %APPDATA%\Everything.
Shutdown program. Restarted it.
Asked if I wanted to "allow this program to make changes etc etc.
Checked options. Tick check is there and not square check in Everything service.
So don't know I am being asked to allow this program to make changes
Okay. Will restore defaults.
Okay, that didn't work, and my last bookmark disappeared.
Okay I will uninstall and try the 32 bit version.

Re: Bookmarks disappear on restart of computer/
Update. Onstalled 32 bit version on C drive.
Run as administrator is unchecked.
Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything is checked,
Run as administrator is unchecked.
Shut down program
UPDATE. Oh dear. In my start menu. i was hitting Everything with (2) in brackets beside it. I was ignoring the (2) until I decided to look further down the start
menu. I saw another version of Everything. I clicked that, and it opened without a prompt to do this or that.
Funny though when i tried to open location of Everything (2) I was told file didn't exist.
But have removed it from start menu.
Okay. Have made a few bookmarks.
Will restart computer to see if bookmarks are saved and program opens without asking me that question.
