Parent -> Paste of single file into multiple directories with overwrite

Post by therube »

(Just pointing out...)

Parent -> Paste of single file, into multiple directories, with overwrite

if you select a single file
& attempt to pasted it into 2 different directories
& one of those directories is the same as the source
-> File Operation Error: 80270003

(then you realize what you had done
[& only cause you deviated from standard practice, well, because]
then it becomes more of a, duh)

IOW, had you attempted the same only to 1 directory,
same source & destination in each case,
you would have ended up (i suppose, by default)
with a " - Copy" file; "name.mp3" -> "name - Copy.mp3"

i suppose have the Error message is actually better,
because otherwise you might not have noticed that you'd
inadvertently created a " - Copy" file.

(actually, you might not realize it even if you were doing a
copy to the same directory.
you're expecting to see a second instance of the file name turn up
& you do
but if name (column width) isn't wide enough,
you might not have noticed that 1 was just a " - Copy" & didn't
make it into a different directory
(yeah, i can see that happening)

Thanks for the bug report therube,

I am aware of the issue.
I have on my TODO list to rename the same source and target paste to " - Copy (x)"

Everything 1.5.0.1310a will ignore moving/copying the exact same source and target for now.

As you said, the error might be better.
As long as it doesn't cause the entire paste operation to fail like it did in older versions.
