opening file in recycle bin

I recently saw a post about opening files (without friendly names) from the recycle bin. I changed my settings to enable this but I now want to reverse it as it seems to have screwed up a couple of things (I think) such as multiple paste to parent folder.
I'm getting a file does not have programme associated...... error message.

If it isn't this setting that caused this problem, any idea what could be causing it?

Unfortunately I can't find the post and can't remember the setting I changed.

I have another instance where the paste is working OK..I tried comparing the options (except for keyboard) but I can't find any difference, which makes me think it's either an ini setting or something in keyboard (which seems unlikely).

I've managed to track down the problem to 'shell_execute_id_list' which solves the paste problem but I can't now open a file from the recycle bin.

Also, I pasted two files to parent in different directories. These two files already exist, my file copy programme, Terracopy, warned me of one file clash but not of the one in the other directory.
Everything didn't alert me to the file clash in the second directory but instead it made a copy.

Does Everything normally have a clash warning?

Are you indexing the Recycle bin as a virtual folder under Tools -> Options -> Folders -> Recycle Bin ?
-If so, please try removing this virtual folder from your index.

Are you using the Display Name column?

Everything shows a prompt to overwrite both files for me.

Did Everything overwrite the file in the second folder? or did it rename it to Filename - Copy.txt

No, I'm not indexing as virtual folder..if I open a file I get the properties dialogue box but if I change shell_execute_id_list' the file opens. To open the file I have to take it out of the bin first.

Everything made a copy and renamed it. I tried it pasting 4 files, Teracopy alerted me to three of the files already existing but Everything pasted the fourth file without any warning from either Everything or Teracopy.
This didn't happen prior to 1300a.

If shell_execute_id_list is disabled, a recycle bin file is opened as a normal file.
Same as Start -> Run.

If shell_execute_id_list is enabled, Everything will call the default context menu verb (which is properties for recycle bin files).
Same as Windows Explorer.

Could you please send some debug output:

• In Everything, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, click Start Debug Logging...
• Perform your paste into multiple folders where the files already exist.
• Accept or Cancel all warnings.
• In Everything, from the Tools menu, under the Debug submenu, click Stop Debug Logging...
• This will open your Everything Debug Log.txt in Notepad.
