Something happened recently, I do not know what, but SE is no longer finding many files.
Example: I have a folder with .bat files. If I do ext:bat it shows SOME of those files in the folder and not others. Even typing in the full file name does not show them. No rhyme or reason that I can determine why some show and some don't.
Example: I have a folder in Documents\sql queries with numerous subfolders. NONE of the 400+ files show up in a search regardless of extension, regardless of search options. If I create XYZ.sql in a different folder it shows up in the search, but when I move it to the problem folder it disappears.
I have rebuilt the index. There are no exclusions, regex is not active, there are no filters.
I have deleted the index and uninstalled SE, ensuring that all files associated with it were also deleted. Reinstalled 1.4.1.1015 (x64). Same problem.
Been using Search Everything for many years, my most important utility. But current it is useless on this PC (which is still running Windows 7!)
Any other ideas? Thanks.

Re: Everything won't find many files - have tried all suggestions so far
I don't have specific trouble shooting ideas, other than to test if the issue still persists in Everything 1.5 Alpha. A lot about 1.5 is superior to 1.4, with new approaches and methods that fix so many problems inherit in 1.4
Give it a try.

Re: Everything won't find many files - have tried all suggestions so far
Thanks for the suggestion. I installed 1.5a. It does show the missing bat files in that one folder (74 in total compared with 62 in version 1.4).
But other files and complete folders (I found more of them) are still invisible.
I created a new folder, moved those "invisible" SQL files into it and both versions now find all of the files. So still not sure what is going on, but at least it seems like I can fix things this way.

The NTFS MFT might be out of sync with your folder listings, please try checking your volumes for errors:I created a new folder, moved those "invisible" SQL files into it and both versions now find all of the files.
- Please backup anything important on your drive before checking it for errors.
- In Windows Explorer, right click your drive and click Properties.
- Click the Tools tab.
- Click Check now...
- Click Start
- If prompted to schedule a scan on the next restart, click Yes.
