How to transfer keyboard shortcuts in Everything between computers

Post by theAnnot8or »

I thought transferring one's keyboard shortcuts from one computer to another would be a simple matter of copying the Everything.ini file in %APPDATA% and pasting it into the new computer's Everything %APPDATA% folder, deleting the default Everything.ini file in the process. However, doing this did not transfer my custom keyboard shortcuts to the new computer. Does anyone have any tips on how to troubleshoot the reason for this? Thank you so much for this lifechanging software!

Please make sure Everything is not running when backing up or restoring the Everything.ini

Please make sure Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything is enabled on both machines:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Click OK.

To exit out of Everything:
  • In Everything, from the File menu, click Exit.

Backup or restore your Everything.ini in %APPDATA%\Everything

Thank you so much for the reply! Your advice appears to have worked. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong before, but I'm happy everything is running smoothly now. Thanks again!
