Love the speed of this program for regular searches, and I am also using it to keep control of all my images. I have one SSD drive that's only used for photos, roughly 65,000. I have it display thumbnails of all the images (When searching, I can usually remember what an image looks like). I have this drive divided into folders by year. Is there a way to display the entire thumbnail results divided by year? When looking for a specific image I can generally remember which year it was taken so it would be easier to be able to jump to a specific year while still having the ability to see all the thumbnails.
Thanks!
Divide thumbnail results by year created?
Re: Divide thumbnail results by year created?
I alway let the name of the photo files include the date / time from their Exif data.
This way I can simply search for any year or more specific date and see only the thumbnails for this subset.
In Everything 1.5 you can also index photo meta data and fast search for them.

Menu "View" -> "Folders (TODO)".
Important:
If you want to switch off this view, it is essential to click on 'Everything' at the top beforehand
and only then execute the menu "View" -> "Folders (TODO)".
If you don't do this, the previously selected folder remains selected in the background and
its content is still displayed in the search result.
This can be seen in the status line at the bottom right (path, e.g. D:\Pictures\2020).
This may also affect other future search results(!).
@void
I think it would be advantageous if Menu "View" -> "Folders (TODO)" could act as a switch (ON/OFF),
because it could possibly lead to misinterpretations of the search result.

This was added in earlier version and later changed.
I will add an option to do this.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Re: Divide thumbnail results by year created?
Oh, I went to add this option and found it already exists...
treeview_clear_selection_on_close
To clear the folder sidebar selection on close:
I am still deciding on the default value..
treeview_clear_selection_on_close
To clear the folder sidebar selection on close:
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/treeview_clear_selection_on_close=1 - If successful, treeview_clear_selection_on_close=1 is shown in the status bar for a few seconds.
I am still deciding on the default value..
Re: Divide thumbnail results by year created?
I like the folder view, but it keeps doing odd things, like drive letter disappearing or 2 of the same drive letter:
Re: Divide thumbnail results by year created?
Thanks for the bug report JimHanus,
There are some graphical issues when selecting an item with the light theme that should be fixed in the next alpha update.
The Inactive selected color is broken in 1300a.
Do you have multiple X: drives indexed?
Please check under Tools -> Options -> NTFS and Tools -> Options -> Folders.
(Please make sure only one X: drive is indexed -preferably NTFS)

Re: Divide thumbnail results by year created?
Yes I did have 2 indexed. I removed the folders version. Thanks.
