[SOLVED] Exclude partition except a folder

Post by blusteve »

Hi.
From the search I would like to exclude a partition except a folder: I would like to exclude the "C: \" partition but keep in the "Desktop" folder.
I tried some settings, but I couldn't: can you help me?
Thank you!

If this is the behavior that you want ALL OF THE TIME then you can change exactly what Everything indexes, so your index is not polluted with stuff that you never ever want to see.

Go to Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> NTFS -> Select (C:) -> Include only:

Here you will type the true path to your Desktop folder, and any other user Documents or Downloads folders you also want included, each separated by a semi-colon character (;). Example:

C:\Users\blusteve\Desktop;C:\Users\blusteve\Documents;C:\Users\blusteve\Downloads;C:\Users\blusteve\Pictures

If, on the other hand, all you want is to perform a specific one-time search query, then you would type something like:

<!C:|C:\Users\blusteve\Desktop|C:\Users\blusteve\Documents|C:\Users\blusteve\Downloads|C:\Users\blusteve\Pictures>
or
<!C:|C:\Users\blusteve\<Desktop|Documents|Downloads|Pictures>>

as your search query. Then bookmark this search query to recall it again later on.
