Adding or moving dropdown arrow in search box

Would it be possible to either, add another arrow on the drop down search box on the left or have an option for what side to have it on?

I've just moved the filter box to the left and so the search box arrow is now on the far right which I'm finding a bit awkward.

For now, please try pressing the following in the search box:
F4 or Alt + Down = show search history.
Ctrl + Space = auto complete search.

please add an option that allows to hide both drop down arrows:

- in the 'search edit' bar
(i don't use this 'arrow' button at all, so it just ineffectively occupies some space)

- and in the filter bar
(a click on the filter bar itself gives the same effect, so the 'arrow' part is useless, and it also ineffectively occupies some space)

I will consider an ini option to hide the dropdown arrow (search box and filter bar).
