When I double click on a search result, it opens directly with the associated application. This works for PDFs, DOCs, XLS, MP4, etc.
However, when I try to do this on any picture file (JPG, etc), I get a prompt "how do you want to open this file?". Even if I check the "always use this app to open" checkbox, the next time I double click, I still get the same prompt.
I'm using ImageGlass as my picture viewer, but when I change it to something else (Windows Photo Viewer, etc), the behavior is the same.
When I double click on a JPG from File Explorer, it opens directly.

Re: Double click result prompting for program - only for pictures
What OS?
What about other picture types, like .png?
If you rename a .jpg as .jpg.png, does the file then open as expected?
Maybe FileTypesMan will point something out?
Run it. Hit '.jpg' to jump to the .jpg entry.
What does the 'open' show?
(In my case, "c:\bin\i_view32.exe" "%1".)
Did you Everything | Options | General -> Context Menu ---> Open (Files) ?

Are you running Everything as administrator? In that case:
- Go to Menu:Tools > Options > General
- Enable Everything Service
- Disable Run as Administrator
- Click OK
- Exit Everything (Menu:File > Exit) and start it again.

Re: Double click result prompting for program - only for pictures
This happens with ALL picture types - JPG, PNG, BMP, TIF
Renaming the files has no effect (meaning that when trying to the picture after a rename, I still get prompted)
I went to Options > General
Run as Administrator is NOT checked
Everything Service IS checked
I stopped and restarted the program - same behavior
I rebooted my PC - same behavior
Double checked other file types (PDF, XLSX, DOCX) and these open directly with the appropriate program (no prompt).

Does the same issue occur if you:
Please ensure Everything is not running as an administrator:
- Select the image file in Everything.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + C to copy the full path and filename to the clipboard.
- From the Start menu, Type in:
Run - Select Run.
- Paste the filename and click OK.
Please ensure Everything is not running as an administrator:
- Right click your Everything.exe or a shortcut to Everything
- Click Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Uncheck Run this program as an administrator.
- Click OK.
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/debug
---this will show a debug console---
What is shown at the top of the debug console for IsAdmin?
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/debug

Re: Double click result prompting for program - only for pictures
Hi again (and btw, I really appreciate your assistance)
When I copied the filename as described and pasted it into the Run dialog, the picture opened directly (no prompt)
I've attached screenshots of the Compatibility properties and the Debug window
Everything used to open pictures directly for me. I can't remember exactly when it started with this behavior, but I suspect it was after an update (either to Everything or a windows update). I'm thinking an uninstall/reinstall is my next option?

Re: Double click result prompting for program - only for pictures
Thank you for confirming Everything is running as a standard user.
Please try changing the default app settings:
Please try resetting ImageGlass:
Please try the new Everything 1.5 alpha as this will open files the same way as Windows Explorer.
Please try changing the default app settings:
- From the Start menu, search for:
default apps - Select Default Apps
- Under Photos, please make sure ImageGlass is selected. (try changing it to something else, and then back to ImageGlass)
Please try resetting ImageGlass:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features, click on ImageGlass and select advanced scroll down and click on "Reset"
Please try the new Everything 1.5 alpha as this will open files the same way as Windows Explorer.
