Find in bookmarks

Post by harryray2 »

I have quite a lot of bookmarks, individual and in folders. It can sometimes be difficult to find the bookmark I want.
At present I have to go into organise bookmarks to find what I'm looking for.

Possibly a find box on the main bookmarks menu?

Why not create a shortcut for "Bookmarks | Organize Bookmarks..."?

[OT] I have to admit that I have often benefited from your many questions and suggestions.

However, when I see a request like this from you, add to that the fact or my impression that the author tries to implement
almost all suggestions promptly, then it will probably take a very long time until the beta version appears... [OT/]

I have the same impression as tuska.
There are many very specialized solutions for problems only very few users ever have.
For me Everything is a tool to search files and folders and not doing the things file managers are for.
Also all sorts of custimization functions should be targeted to the main function as long as we are in the alpha status.
If a beta version is out and after a final 1.5 there is the time for improvements in all other areas.

Ctrl + B will show the 'Select Bookmark' dialog.

This is a simpler interface for opening a bookmark. (compared to Organize bookmarks Ctrl + Shift + B)
A bookmark sidebar is in development.

Brilliant, Thanks.

I tried CTRL+B but it doesn't appear to do anything.

A sidebar sounds like a good option, it will make finding and executing a bookmark easier. It will also (hopefully) solve the issues I've been having with the bookmarks pop up window.

Please try setting a keyboard shortcut to select bookmarks:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options
  • Click the Keyboard tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show commands containing, type in:
    bookmark
  • Select Bookmarks | Select Bookmark....
  • Click Add....
  • Press Ctrl + B and Click OK.
  • Click OK.

Thanks again, I've never really looked at the keyboard shortcuts. Really useful.
Is this window, and others like it, only accessible with a keyboard shortcut?

I have a vague recollection of you mentioning a customisable menu is that correct or am I thinking of something else?

Context menu and main menu customization is on my TODO list.

Again, thank you :0)

I had no idea that particular bookmark window existed. I'm going to plough through all the keyboard shortcut commands to see what else is there.
