If I do a search for both files and folders, the files are shown first then the folders.
If I then sort by date by clicking in the header column the files and folders appear in descending date order (newest first) which is fine.
If I then want to view the folders I click on the header column again and the folders appear at the top of the list but they're in ascending order (oldest first)
Is there a way of making the folders appear in descending order?
Sort order
Re: Sort order
To show folders first:
Either:
Sort by date descending and then shift click the Name column.
This will set the secondary sort to Name Ascending.
Folders are always shown first when using a secondary sort.
-or-
Set folders to always show as first:
Either:
Sort by date descending and then shift click the Name column.
This will set the secondary sort to Name Ascending.
Folders are always shown first when using a secondary sort.
-or-
Set folders to always show as first:
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/folders_first=1
where 1 is always show folders first and 0 is show folders first when in ascending order.
Re: Sort order
Thanks, I actually want the files to always show first but the folders to appear in descending order when I click the columns to bring the folders to the top of the list.
Re: Sort order
Everything does not have an option to show folders in descending order when sorting in ascending order.
Pressing \ in the result list will jump between folders and files.
-or-
Try folders first in descending order:
In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/folders_first=3
Pressing \ in the result list will jump between folders and files.
-or-
Try folders first in descending order:
In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/folders_first=3
Re: Sort order
Thanks, I think I've got it...shift clicking the name column, is there a way of doing this just with the mouse or will I have to use shift?
Re: Sort order
Shift must be held down when setting the secondary sort with the mouse.
