I have a folder with 186,000 items
I want to copy all files that are NOT a specific file tyupe (eg. .tiff)
I processed an advanced search ommitting 'tiff' which worked
I then tried selecting all items (ctrl a) to set up the copy
Unfortunately 'everything' shows 'not responding' with a 'spinning blue circle'
Note I am running windows 11 22000.194 which does not support windows explorer search function.
Is the blue circle normal and do I just need to wait
Or have I exceeded the capabilities of everything and need to make smaller incremental selections
Note I tried selecting the first 10 items and it worked as required with no issues !
Copy large volume
Re: Copy large volume
It will take a very long time to copy 186,000 items to the clipboard. (expect about one minute per 10,000 items, so 18+ minutes)
Instead of Copying to the clipboard, please try using the Copy to folder... feature under the Edit menu.
(Terminate Everything if it is still hung)
Copying to clipboard can be interrupted with the ESC key in Everything 1.5.
Copying to the clipboard is much faster in Everything 1.5. (Everything 1.5 doesn't access the file on disk)

What it look like to me, with 100K items...
Select all, Ctrl+C, looked ? to happen quickly.
During that time, Everything stayed responsive, the files showed, I could scroll through the list...
(Perhaps, not quite sure, the Ctrl+C part of things happened, was continuing to happen, in the background?)
(My clipboard program appeared to show that the items were copied to clipboard. [It only displayed one screens worth of filenames.])
Once I got to the paste part (Shift+INS), the Windows part was then taking a long time to accomplish.
"Preparing to copy..., Time remaining: Calculating..., Items remaining: Calculating..., Speed: Calculating..."
----
With, Edit | Copy to Folder..., Everything (almost) immediately went into a 'busy' (Not Responding) mode.
And once (probably quicker then above) the Windows copy dialog came up, & for the entire time the Windows dialog was up (until I cancelled it), Everything no longer showed any files, was opaque & unresponsive.
(On 'Cancel', File Operation Error: 800704c7, OK, which I guess is OK .)
---
Edit | Advanced | Advanced Copy to Folder...
New full paths: reflected its' changes quickly.
But again, once the Windows dialog came up, "Preparing to copy... Discovering items...", Everything was again unresponsive (at least I was unable to get Everything window to come to foreground).
---
With Salamander, it enumerated all the files, & finished the copy in < 1 minute.
(Now, granted, these are tiny files, most are 0-bytes, but still.)
---
Related, preparation for copying takes extremely long.
