my everything goes slow. @.@

Post by hancre »

to run autohotkey scripts for context menu well in everything, I unchecked <run as administrator >.
( reference : https://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10495&p=39517#p39517 )

after it, everything in my computer often needs indexing and update.
How can I make it faster like the previous state ?

What should I choose among the 3 option in the image ?

Please choose Install Everything Service.

Sounds like a program is uninstalling or stopping the Everything Service.
or the Everything Service is crashing.

The next time you see the "Everything requires administrative privileges" dialog, please check the status of the Everything Service:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Is Everything Service tick-checked, square-checked or unchecked?

Are there any errors reported in the Event Viewer (Start -> eventvwr)
Is there any crash reports for the Everything Service under Windows Logs -> Application?

I don't understand the meaning of << Is Everything Service tick-checked, square-checked or unchecked? >>

I found this following error in windows log. I turned off <start everything on system startup >.
I think it caused the slow speed.

I'll turn on <start everything on system startup>.

Thank you for your reply hancre,
I don't understand the meaning of << Is Everything Service tick-checked, square-checked or unchecked? >>
Square-checked: (indeterminate)

(Everything Service is installed, but not running)

Tick-checked:

Please try disable allow_ntfs_open_file_by_id, as this can improve stability:
  • In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /allow_ntfs_open_file_by_id=0
  • If successful allow_ntfs_open_file_by_id=0 is shown in the statusbar for a few seconds.
  • Type in the following search and press ENTER:
    /restart
  • Everything will restart.
-or-

Please try the Everything 1.5a and see if the performance and stability improves.
(Leave "start everything on system startup" unchecked in Everything 1.4)
