I'm currently using Everything 1.5.0.1269a. My problem concerns the preview pane. The preview does not seem to be able to update the album art when changing between different music files that each has their own album art.
Steps:
1) Open preview pane,
2) search for music files that have album art,
3) select first file (preview should show album art of the selected file),
4) select second file with a different album art (previewed album art does not change). However, playing the music in preview plays the correct content in both times. Closing and reopening preview pane loads correct album art if the second file is selected.
This album art carries over if you next search for video files.
4) Search for a video file and select one. It shows the previous album art of the music file in the preview, however, video plays normally if you press Play button in the preview but music file album art is shown again if you press Stop in the preview or select another video file.
5) Same behaviour happens in reverse: Selecting a video file first (in a fresh preview pane) shows the preview image of the selected video. This preview image persist even when selecting other video files or music files. Changing to a different type of file (*.txt, *.pdf, etc.) show their correct preview most likely due to those having a different preview handler. It seems Windows Media Player is handling my preview for audio and video (there is "Open in Windows Media Player" button in the preview). However, default apps I've set in Windows 10 is MPC-HC for music and VLC media player for video.
What I would like to see is album art and video preview image correctly updating when changing the selection and without having to close & reopen preview pane in between.
I understand this won't be high priority issue compared to many others but it is one of the very few inconveniences I've experienced while using Everything so I wanted it to have some attention. Thank you.
Persisting album art in preview pane
Re: Persisting album art in preview pane
What OS?
How are you going from one song to another?
(Are there different ways to? When one song ends, does it automatically advance to the next? [Seems not.])
Appears to be working on my end, Win7.
(Eeegahds, did I just play something through WMP?!)
Perhaps it's related to the way particular files were tagged?
Seem to recall vague discussion of Previews not changing, but that was some time back, so have to figured those issues were resolved.

Re: Persisting album art in preview pane
I believe I mentioned OS. Windows 10 Home (Version 21H1).
Selecting songs with mouse or arrow keys, just the usual ways how one would select files in Everything. If song ends in preview then it just stops, it won't automatically play another song or repeat.
Here's an example. Added some text + red border to make it easier to see which file was currently selected.
1. Searching music, opening preview. Nothing selected yet, no preview.
2. Selecting first song, preview looks ok.
3. Selecting second song, album art stays the same as in previous step. 4. Closing the preview, selecting another song and then reopening the preview will load the correct album art.

This apparently is a bug in Windows Media Player’s Rich Preview Handler. If you disable WMP Rich Preview Handler, the preview pane refreshes the image correctly but you lose the ability to play the media file from the Preview pane, as the control bar won’t appear under the preview image. On the other hand, when the WMP Rich Preview Handler is enabled (default), the Preview pane fails to refresh, but still allows you to play the correct file from the Preview pane.
If you use the Preview pane for just viewing the preview image but not for playing files, then go ahead and disable the WMP Rich Preview Handler using this REG File (zipped wmp_rich_preview.zip). To enable the preview handler back, run the undo REG file.

Thanks. I guess that explains it then. I'd personally prefer if both worked but I guess previewing the audio / video is more important feature than seeing the correct album art / video preview image.jimspoon wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 9:28 pm Does this help?

Re: Persisting album art in preview pane
I am working on a fix.
For a quick fix:
For a quick fix:
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/preview_release_handler_on_clear=1 - If successful, preview_release_handler_on_clear=1 is shown in the status bar.

Everything 1.5.0.1270a fixes an issue with album art persisting in the preview pane.
