cannot find where to select content

Post by Corkster52 »

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but where can I select to do a word search in all of my files? I cannot find "content" listed anywhere on the advanced menu. I was able to do this a while back, but I might have done something to my setup that disabled it.

What about "A word or phrase in the file:" under Advanced Search
Or simpler in the search field
content:your_search_here

In advanced search, I get a yellow triangle popup saying content is not indexed (see attached)

When I do the "content:" and put in a word, I get nothing

If you didn't configer content indexing in version 1.5 you can use
notindexed:content:your_search_here
This will be slow of course and you should prefix it with some path to reduce the number of files to search.

If you have version 1.4 and content: didn't find anything
there is something wrong with your search term or the file type in which you are searching.
Using Alpha version 1.5 is a complete other thing
and I would not recommend it as long as you are not successful handle version 1.4.
So what is your complete search term for content and which file types are to be searched.
Did you have filled the rest of the fields in Advanced search ?
Its not enough to simply enter a word to be searched.

Everything 1.4 does not index file content.

For the best performance, please set as many filters as possible under Search -> Advanced Search.

For example:

ext:docx;doc;pdf dm:thisyear content:"my content search"

Search status is shown in the status bar at the bottom left.
