[Solved] 1265+1266 crashes after delete many folders+files
[Solved] 1265+1266 crashes after delete many folders+files
1265+1266 crashes after deleting many folders + files (50-70 GB) from the Everything window.
I mention that none of them exceeded long path.
After I started the program, it closes again. The only way to fix it is to delete db.
Happened twice, one with 1265 and once with 1266.
Cannot replicate the behavior since then.

If the crash occurs again, could you please send a mini crash dump to support@voidtools.com
(please create a mini crash dump when the crash dialog is still shown)

Are you deleting to recycle bin?
About how many files/directories were deleted?
About how many files/directories were deleted?
Re: 1265+1266 crashes after delete many folders+files
Yes, delete to recycle bin.
20k files and 1k folders.
20k files and 1k folders.

32 or 64-bit Everything.
(Heh. And for giggles, I'll throw in a TC post, Crashes while deleting and clicking the ''background''.
Check out the guy who figured that one out.)

I have not been able to reproduce the issue here, could you please send your %APPDATA%\Everything\Everything.ini to support@voidtools.com for further testing.

Re: 1265+1266 crashes after delete many folders+files
Hello, thanks for the great software.
I have been encountering crashes with 1.5 for a while. Never knew why despite troubleshooting.
However, the crash happened again today and I'm sure that it is related to this issue in this topic.
Once a large group of files is deleted (sent to recycle bin through Explorer), Everything will crash shortly after.
But I managed to quickly hit "ctrl `" and was able to produce this log without deleting db.
Funny thing is Everything kept running for a minute after I clicked the hotkey until eventually crashing.

this is the end of the log, which was hard to create because Everything will keep crashing until I delete .db.2021-07-05 15:10:39.922: unable to add ntfs file: dyld.pyo: parent 000200000002d2b5 not found

Re: 1265+1266 crashes after delete many folders+files
Thank you for the Everything.ini w64bit,
Please try Everything 1.5.0.1267a.
The issue appears to be caused by having an exclude list under Tools -> Options -> Excludes and renaming a folder.
I have not had any luck producing the issue my end and I am still investigating the issue.
While Everything 1.5.0.1267a does not directly address the issue, it could be caused by one of the other issues Everything 1.5.0.1267a fixes.
Thank you for the crash report YorkMorgan,
Could you please send your Everything.ini in %APPDATA%\Everything to support@voidtools.com
It will help find the issue by running Everything my end with the same setup.

Re: 1265+1266 crashes after delete many folders+files
Thank you for the Everything.ini YorkMorgan,
Everything 1.5.0.1268a fixes an issue with sorting folders by File Reference Number (FRN).
It is possible for this bug to cause a crash as described above.
Having an exclude list appears to be a common trait for this crash.
Please let me know if the crash occurs with Everything 1.5.0.1268a.
It is possible this bug has corrupted the Everything.db
I recommend forcing a rebuild from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force Rebuild
