Hello. Even though everything says that it's scanning my network drives, when I type something into the search, it always comes up with 0 results. I've tried running it as administrator and not as administrator and it is so frustrating that I can never, ever get this program to search my network. Local drives, no problem, but my network, forget about it. Is there an easy way that I can fix this, can I add lines to the .ini file so I don't have to mess around with options in the program that simply don't work for me/
I'll add separate lines for each subfolder if I have to, I don't really care at this point.
thanks for the help, this program really shouldn't be this hard for people who aren't technically minded.
can't get everything to search my network
Re: can't get everything to search my network
It should not be necessary to edit the ini file to add a network folder. At least it is worth trying to prevent doing that :
- Go to Menu:Tools > Options > General
- Enable Everything Service
- Disable Run as administrator
- Enable Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything
- Exit Everything (right-click the Everything icon in the system tray and choose Exit)
- Start Everything
- Go to Menu:Tools > Options > Indexes > Folders
- Click on the Add button
- Browse to your Network drive
- Press OK
- Configure the rescan schedule to your liking (or accept the defaults; that works fine in most cases)
- Press the OK button
- Let Everything scan your network drive (you can follow the progress in the status bar)

When you don't type anything into the search, does everything come up?when I type something into the search, it always comes up with 0 results
Re: can't get everything to search my network
Hello. I tried the steps you suggested and noticed that the services box was only partially checked so I checked that, unchecked administrator, hit apply and then okay. I then exited, restarted the program, added the network folder, hit rescan and waited a while but doing a search is still showing no results. Any other ideas?
Re: can't get everything to search my network
The issue described is most commonly caused by running Everything as an administrator.

I clicked force rebuild, then okay, waited a few minutes and tried to search the network drive, still no results are showing.
Re: can't get everything to search my network
If you search for root: is your network drive shown?
What is your network drive letter? (eg: J: )
Are any results shown if you search for this drive letter, eg:
j:
Are there any search options checked under the Search menu?
Have you added your Network drive to your folder indexes under Tools -> Options -> Folders?
