Hi there
I have been running Everything for years (and love it - thank you ).
However, I have recently re-installed Windows due to an unfixable BSOD, and have of course now re-installed Everything. But as the title suggests, I am not getting all the return results I expected.
For example, I tried to find where the Microsoft Access exe file was located, and search for the correct filename (MSACCESS.EXE).
The results bring up several files/folders, all of which contain msaccess.exe (for example msaccess.exe.db) but not the file I was looking for.
The file is actually located in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
Everything will find any folders in this location that I search for - but none of the files, either in this folder, or any subsequent subfolders. (I haven't as yet found this problem in other folders, but it may be a problem for other system folders, but as I say, I don't know).
I have tried do an advanced search, with find this exact phrase, and even put the above folder in as the "located in" box, but still no joy.
NB if I put in the search bar:
parent:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16"
It brings up all the folder in the directory, and 2 random files (both. dll). But no other files - and there are plenty (including other .dll files!)
I assume I either have a setting set wrong somewhere (but I can't for the life of me find it - I do not for example have any excluded files/folders)? Or maybe Windows is restricting access? Or perhaps I need to rebuild an index?
Anyway, any help greatly received!
Not all expected files showing up in search after Win10 reset
Re: Not all expected files showing up in search after Win10 reset
These files are hard links.
While Everything 1.4 does index hard links, it does not maintain them.
They have most likely been removed and replaced during an Office update.
Please try forcing a rebuild:
Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

An index rebuild fixed it. Many thanks!!!!
