Why does \recycle.bin == \$recycle.bin ?

Why does \recycle.bin == \$recycle.bin ?
In other words either search will find the same files in 'Recycle Bin', the '$' need not specifically be include (in the search term).

(You might need to have Match Path enabled, depending...)
(I don't know if this is 1.5 specific?)

Do you have Menu:Search > Ignore punctuation enabled?

Here searching for \recycle.bin gives zero results.
