Search results include files from unincluded location

Post by Ahkhoonah »

Hello,
I noticed today something strange. In the folder options I only included one network location folder.
However, the search results return a bunch of results from C drive as well.
I was specifically asking to show only compressed files.
This was using a portable version, running Version 1.4.1.935, off a USB drive.
How can this be fixed?

To search only your mapped network drive, please include the following in your search:

j:\

-where J: is your mapped network drive.

To search only your \\server\share, please include the following in your search:

\\server\share\

-where \\server\share\ is your NAS share.

To limit results to compressed files only, from the Search menu, click Compressed.
Filters can be activated from the Search menu, Filter bar (View -> Filters), right clicking the status bar, filter macro or filter keyboard shortcut.

Your C: drive is automatically indexed as a NTFS volume.

To remove your C: drive from your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab on the left.
  • Uncheck Automatically index new fixed volumes.
  • Uncheck Automatically index new removable volumes.
  • Select your C: drive and uncheck Include in database.
  • Click OK.
