Importing two instances and their settings

Post by burgundy »

What are the steps to import settings from two instances of Everything 1.4?
I took the following steps but could not import bookmarks or filters. Please advise.

---------------

For one instance of v1.5, I created a shortcut using the -INSTANCE parameter (just as before).

I successfully imported the INI file from v1.4 for that instance.

However I could not import the bookmarks CSV for that instance.
Nor could I import the filters CSV for that instance.

(I don't know about importing, per se...)

Using an instance adds (dash &) an "instance name" to the setting file names.
So if you called your instance
-instance eve15

copy your .csv (or whatever) over & append
-eve15
to their name part.

So
Search History.csv
becomes
Search History-eve15.csv
...
Do that for any associated files you need.

And you would do that while Everything is closed.

To import filters:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Organize Filters....
  • Click Import....
  • Select your Filters.csv file and click Open.
  • Click OK.
Repeat for each instance of Everything 1.4.
You filters should be stored in %APPDATA%\Everything\Filters-<instance name>.csv

To import bookmarks:
  • In Everything, from the Bookmarks menu, click Organize Bookmarks....
  • Click Import....
  • Select your bookmarks.csv file and click Open.
  • Click OK.
Repeat for each instance of Everything 1.4.
You filters should be stored in %APPDATA%\Everything\Bookmarks-<instance name>.csv
