date modified search (md:) doesn't return anything

Post by alanPr_everything »

Modified date search (md:<date>) does not bring any results. "Index date modified" is checked in Options/Indexes. Also, "Fast date modified sort" is also checked. Any idea what's going on?

What happens if you try it with
dm:
instead of md: ?

For example:

Code: Select all

dm:thismonth

I have this problem too. When I search results come up and if I try to sort the results any way other than the default (name) all the results disappear. I have tried reinstalling and it has no effect. I have had this problem for some months now.

Sorry to hear Everything is not showing any results when sorting by date modified.

This can occur when the date modified index is corrupt.

Please try forcing a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
If that doesn't help, please try deleting your existing Everything.db:
  • Completely exit Everything (right click the Everything system tray icon and click Exit)
  • In Windows Explorer, type in the following address and press ENTER:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything
  • Delete your Everything.db.
  • Restart Everything.
Does the issue persist?

What date did you enter for the date?
& did you enter the < and > literally?
Doesn't (may not) matter.
Is md: valid?
Not that I see.

Does forcing a rebuild help:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.

Please make sure fast sorting is enabled:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Check Index file size.
  • Check Fast size sort.
  • Check Index date modified.
  • Check Fast date modified sort.
  • Check Fast path sort.
  • Click OK.
