Set Default Open to Document

Post by capteelingurdian »

Hi,

By default Everything - BEST PRORGRAM evAH! - opens to search...Everything! :D Logical enough.

Using the dropdown pictured above it is possible to then further narrow the search to different types of files.

I mostly find myself searching for documents.

Is there any way to set the default to be document?

Sincerely,

Thank you for your feedback.

To create your own document filter:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Add to filters....
  • Give the filter a name, for example:
    My Documents
  • Change the Search to:
    ext:doc;docx
where doc and docx are the file extensions of interest.
  • Click OK.
Filters can be activated from the Search menu, Filter bar (View -> Filters), right clicking the status bar, filter macro or filter keyboard shortcut.

To set the default filter:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Home tab on the left.
  • Change Filter to: My Documents.
  • Click OK.

Hi!!!!!!

I'd like to mimic the "Document" dropdown exactly. Which extensions should I use? Or, is there a Clone Filter method / fewer-step-way to clone?

There's currently no clone option.

The default document filter search is:
ext:c;cc;chm;cpp;cs;css;csv;cxx;doc;docm;docx;dot;dotm;dotx;epub;h;hpp;htm;html;hxx;ini;java;js;json;lua;mht;mhtml;mobi;odt;pdf;php;potx;potm;ppam;ppsm;ppsx;pps;ppt;pptm;pptx;py;rtf;sldm;sldx;thmx;txt;vsd;wpd;wps;wri;xlam;xls;xlsb;xlsm;xlsx;xltm;xltx;xml;vb

To edit your existing filters:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Organize filters.
  • Select your Document filter.
  • Click Edit....

Hi,

Apologies for not letting you know my results quickly! When I see how hard you work supporting Everything I feel impressed, and grateful!

I created a custom filter, adding in the full range of document extensions. That's GREAT!

I rearranged the order of the filters, and placed my new one to the top.

Opening Everything the app still defaults to the "Everything" filter from start.

Is there any way to set the program so that it opens by using my custom

My Documents

filter?

So that, upon opening, it applies this custom filter first?

Sincerely,
