Preview shows txt but not .md files

Hello, I mainly use Everything to manage markdown text files (.md) a folder. On my PC the .md shows up in Preview okay, but on my laptop, I see nothing (.txt files and some other formats like .xml can be previewed). I have Windows 10 installed on both PC and laptop so I don't know why Everything Preview on my laptop doesn't like .md format. Any ideas?
