Hi,
If I doubleclic on a file (eg pdf or html) in the result list showed by Everything, the program used to open the file is not the default program (pdf xchange viewer or brave) as set up in Windows 10, but is Edge.
Why ? What could I do to choose for myself the programs Everything is to use to open files ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

How to choose the default program ?
Re: How to choose the default program ?
I would think the .pdf should open in whatever you have defined as the program to open .pdf with?
Maybe with the install of Edge, it (stole) your association?
Check to see what Windows 10 shows the default application for .pdf to be?

Re: How to choose the default program ?
Are you running Everything as administrator? Run it as a regular user instead (recommended):
- Enable Everything Service
- Disable Run as administrator.
- Restart Everything
Both settings can be found under Menu:Tools > Options > General

New versions of Edge or some other Windows updates steal the association for PDF.buscando wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 8:22 am Hi,

This has noting to do with Everything and can't be fixed in Everything.
You have to select the default program you wish in the Windows Apps settings
and you have to do that again after newer Windows updates.
Re: How to choose the default program ?
Thanks to therube, NotNull and horst_epp for their answers.
The default programs as set in W10 were not "stolen", nor taken into account by Everything.
That's Notnull's answer (hard to guess) wich resolved my problem, many thanks.

Re: How to choose the default program ?
Ah, that makes sense.
You, as a "normal" user, have .pdf defined to open with PDF Xchange (or whatever).
The (Windows) Administrator account never specifically dealt with that issue, so opens in the "default" handler, MS Edge.
In Everything, in situations where you are not using the Everything Service, Everything is then running "As Admin", so the action to take when you click on a .pdf is handled based on what is defined based on the Administrator (User) account, Edge, in this case.
