Locate32 can do thumbs (I seem to recall).
Not of any importance to me, personally, though I could see where it could be beneficial to others.

Thumbnails will slow it down (they have to come from somewhere) so it would be OK but they should be optional.
I have already noticed a slowdown in Windows 7 when I display a "details" screen in Explorer of my videos. It seems to go nuts trying to figure out some attributes when I all I want is a list of names and dates!
