Everything and Windows 98

Post by Jabberwock »

Hello, I have an unusual question.
When I have assembled a special PC for the retro games, with Windows 98 and 3dfx, I realized that it is very uncomfortable for me to use PC without Everything now.

So, there are any chances to run Everything on Win98se/Fat32? )

Does Everything "run" on 98?
If it does, then I'd think you could use Folder Indexing to help you out.
(98 didn't have NTFS, did it?)

(Or else, https://locate32.cogit.net/.)

Why don't you just try it?

(that is half of the fun :))

To run Everything on Windows 98 you will need to use the portable version of Everything and you will need UnicoWS.

There is no support for native NTFS indexing on Windows 95/98.

To add your volumes to your Everything index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your volume and click OK.
  • Click OK.
There is no real-time monitoring of folder indexes on Windows 95/98.

To run Everything on Windows 95 you will need Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.
