How to reset Everything and re-scan all my hard drives. I would like to save the old database though, rename and maybe call it up in the future.

  • Completely exit Everything:
Right-click the Everything icon in the system tray and choose Exit
  • Copy Everything.db to a save place.
This file is in the folder where Everything.exe is OR in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything.
  • Start Everything
  • Go to Menu:Tools > Options > Indexes
  • Click the Force Rebuild button
  • Done!
Note: You can also delete Everything.db (after copying it, of course). This will force Everything to rebuild it's database too.

If you want to view the "old database": everything.exe -readonly "d:\backup\everything.db"
(replace d:\backup with the actual path)
