Active Directory File Security

Post by krosal »

I have a question on security for the Everything Search. I currently have setup the ETP Server for running the Everything and I'm getting ready to deploy the Everything Search. I'm wondering about the security for the end users.

If a users has only read access to a folder on the network and when they search for that file that shows up in Everything, what kind of security do they have? ie; Could they delete the file if they currently have only read access permissions to the file outside of Everything?

Thank you,

The security level of the account that started the ETP client on the user's computer. In most cases, that would be the security level of the user.

In other words:
The ETP Client "downloads" a list of file/foldernames from the ETP Server. Accessing those files is done using the client's security-level. User will not be able to deleta a file where the ACL is configured for read-only access fo that user.
