Bookmarks vs. Macro

Post by NotNull »

Everything 1.4.1.935 (x64) ; demo bookmark:

The "si" macro doesn't stick. It is removed after using the bookmark (Menu:Bookmarks > sysinternals )
Using
si:
also doesn't give any results.

Am I missing something?

Could you please try:
  • In Everything, from the Bookmarks menu, click Organize Bookmarks.
  • Select the Sysinternals bookmark and click Edit.
  • Change the Macro to: si
  • Click OK.
  • Select the Sysinternals bookmark and click Edit.
  • Has Everything remembered the si macro?
Is it just the macro si? does using another macro name work? such as sysinternal

If you don't use the bookmark is the macro remembered between Everything sessions?

Problem solved.

Braincells!!!

This is what my "Bookmark Organizer" looked like:

2019-06-14 14_40_37-abc_ - Everything.png (5.83 KiB) Viewed 2993 times
Instead of the regular:
2019-06-14 14_41_08-abc_ - Everything.png
2019-06-14 14_41_08-abc_ - Everything.png (10.19 KiB) Viewed 2993 times

So I "X-ed" the dialog box without further thinking, assuming bookmarks.csv would be written right after editing a bookmark.
But procmon combined with Everything's verbose debug log revealed that this wasn't the case.

A separate, clean instance of Everything revealed the missing OK button
From there on it was obvious that this was error code "One-D Ten-T"

FWIW: the Organize Bookmarks dialog didn't show scrollbars when "collapsed"

A couple things I could do:
  • Impose minimum size requirements on dialog windows, so the window can not be resized to hide buttons, for example:
  • Always show the OK CANCEL buttons, for example:

(See the current Advanced Search dialog).
I'm not too keen on enforcing limits on the window size.

This was struck by lighting level of chance, combined with stupidity.
I'll buy you a beer if this *ever* happens again :D
