Hi,
I am a happy user of everything since at least 8 years. Recently, on my new Windows 10 PC, I have come across a strange problem. I am completely unable to drag and drop the files from the everything results to other application such as thunderbird or xyplorer.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks,
Unable to drag and drop files from everything to xyplorer, thunderbird etc.
Re: Unable to drag and drop files from everything to xyplorer, thunderbird etc.
I'd think it to be a permissions level issue.
Are you running Everything "As Administrator"?
If so, try using the Everything Service instead.
(Service is certainly a safer way.)

Thank you for your quick response therube. I am now running Everything service and have unchecked the run as administrator option. However, the problem remains. I can neither drag and drop, nor can I copy and paste a file from the results.
I agree that these could be permission issues. I am on a non administrator account, though I can and do get administrator UAC rights using the admin password.
Is there anything I can do to make this work? Thanks again.

Do you get this prompt when running Everything? or Thunderbird? or Xyplorer?though I can and do get administrator UAC rights using the admin password.
Please try running Everything as a standard user:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab on the left.
- Check Everything service.
- Uncheck Run as administrator.
- Click OK.
- Restart Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
- Right click a shortcut to Everything or right click your Everything.exe
- Click Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Uncheck Run this program as an administrator.
- Click OK.

Dear Void,
Thank you very much for the detailed response, which provided a nice next step to the recommendations provided by therube.
Shortly before I saw your message, I managed to get the problem resolved by logging in the admin account and elevating my standard user account to an admin one. Since then, I have not encountered any problems.
However your's and therube's tips about unchecking the "run as administrator" option could be even more useful, if a user is stuck with a non-admin account. The tip with the compatibility tab - run as programmer option could have especially helped me as I never even though about the program still running in admin mode because of the shortcut settings.
Thanks again, Void and therube.
