indexing just some folders on a drive / exclude file extensions

hi guys,
one of the best tools I've ever seen!

my questions are:

• 1) I dont want to search in \windows or \old_documents for example.
  So, can I include/exclude some folders from the search?

• 2) I would like to exclude some extensions from the general search option ('search all files'), e.g. the extension .lnk.

I would like to store these in general settings, so that these setting always take effect.

how can i do this?

what do i have to write to the file filter?
