ETP missing in beta?

Post by collinchaffin »

I'm sorry but I"m very frustrated I see no obvious docs that I'm missing for years I did NOT want and disabled then ignored the ETP server part of everything.

Now, years later I have the need to use the SDK dll which apparently needs the "server" running as service. So I enabled Everything to run as service (I am a local admin) and restarted both the newly installed service as well as the GUI. There is no longer (nor has there been for some time) even the TAB for ETP in the 1.4.1 betas (I am running latest nightly 1.4.1.917x64).

So, what am I missing how do I even enable the ETP "server" in the latest beta nightlies? TIA!

EDIT: Solved (I believe). I do not recall setting it, but out of common sense I found the main program ini in progfiles had these entries, that once changed to "1", both server tabs suddenly became visible as they were in the past:

allow_http_server=0
allow_etp_server=0

The actual beta 917 GUI definitely has the entries for ETP/FTP Server under its options !
Its just before the last option for http server.
Don't know where you are looking for ?

Just to note: if you install Everything from the msi installer, the ETP and HTTP servers are disabled by default.

To enable these servers you will need administrator privileges and change the following lines in your C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.ini

allow_http_server=0
allow_etp_server=0

to:

allow_http_server=1
allow_etp_server=1

On another note, ETP and HTTP servers were removed from an early Everything 1.3 beta, but added back to the official Everything 1.3 release.

Ahh, I was curious how and at what point the ini was set that way and that clarified is since I did run the msi installer initially and now overlay beta binaries. Thanks!
