Only Folder results! (not the obvious)

Post by Whirly »

I have the Filters drop down visible, and it is set on "Everything". I'm not doing an advanced search, and this is just a single PC. I rebuilt the index...

This is a disappointing development.

I'm still only getting folders. This is a new problem. Settings I changed recently: turned on Index Folder Size (but I rebuilt without that and no help); I may have hid system files - I can't think of any other changes.

Thanks

So, if you search for:

Code: Select all

ext:exe
You get zero results?

Check your Everything filter.
Maybe you have set it to folder: ?

Have you set an file exclude filter?
Please make sure Include only files is blank from Tools -> Options -> Exclude -> Include only files
Please make sure Exclude files is blank from Tools -> Options -> Exclude -> Exclude files

Please try forcing a rebuild from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force Rebuild.

Thanks for the replies! I was trying to exclude a specific file type, and that seems related to the problem, but I'm not clear how. I had Exclude Files: *.axx and it was excluding all file types... Maybe I had an extra space in there? Once I cleared the exclusion, and then reset it, I couldn't easily recreate the problem. Now the exclusion seems to work properly with or without the wildcard. So I'm mystified but okay.
