I have changed options in latest Everything to run as a service and to run as administrator (windows 10x64). When i boot the machine i do not see a UAC prompt, but it is only running as a service not as a program. I suppose this is normal, but how do i do a search or access it? What i have been doing is running everything from the search bar, it will then ask me for UAC permission and then do a lengthly update of database (i have a huge amount of networked folder shares indexed in the \\computer\share\ manner versus mapped network drives) - Then i can access and search. At this point i have it running as a process and as a service.
What am i missing? I know this has been rehashed over and over, also for what its worth i have donated 2x and love your program!
UAC confusion
Re: UAC confusion
Not quite following, but...
Use the Service rather then 'Run as administrator'.
Put a shortcut to Everything.exe on your desktop.
Click it.

Re: UAC confusion
Just to clarify, you will need to run the Everything service and Everything.
The service only monitors file system changes, while Everything manages the database and searches.
There should be no UAC prompts, please make sure Everything is not running as administrator:

- Right click a shortcut to Everything and click Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Uncheck Run this program as an administrator.
- Click OK.
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab on the left.

Re: UAC confusion
It is working now. I had admin on both and was confused before by seeing it running as service and as a program. Thanks again for the support and for writing such an amazing program.
