Folder missing from scan...no idea why

Post by RobG »

Running Windows 10, 64-bit, CU. My D: drive (internal HDD) contains several folders off the root directory. One directory, D:\Data, contains several subdirectories. One of those subdirectories is is never indexed while all of the others are. I tried adding the subdirectory to the Folders list and now it's being indexed but I don't understand why I needed to do this. I'm not excluding it anywhere (at least not consciously). Can someone suggest why this is happening? The directory that isn't indexed contains several subdirectories and contains quite a few files (28K).

The Everything database could be corrupt:
Please try forcing a rebuild in Everything:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
The MFT could be corrupt, even though you may still be able to browse this folder in Windows Explorer.
If the folder is still missing from the Everything index, please try checking your D: drive for errors:
  • Please backup anything important on your drive before checking it for errors.
  • In Windows Explorer, right click your D: drive and click Properties.
  • Click the Tools tab.
  • Click Check now....
  • Click Start.
  • If prompted to schedule a scan on the next restart, click Yes.

Thanks for your suggestions; I had tried force rebuild several times and I ran a boot-time chkdsk on my D: drive; no problems were found. On a lark, I uninstalled Everything and reinstalled it and now it's working perfectly. Kudos on your uninstall process; it doesn't leave any "junk" behind. Great program.
