Q: Every time I close Everything (should the need arise) or if i reboot, there are two things that reset themselves, and I would like to make it stop resetting. That is:
A)The option to make "NEW SEARCH WINDOW" the default option from the tray icon. ((Settings > UI > "Create a new window from the system tray")), and
B)PERMANENTLY add "Type" to the sort columns tabs.[/list]
Yes, I have tried running Everything as an administrator and changing the options. When i set the options, they stay, until everything is closed and reopened by any means or for any reason, however when everything crashes, computer reboots, ect... these option always fins themselves undone.
I have also tried editing the ini file, but the better portion of it still eludes me as I rarely have the time to sit and tinker with it. I would be ever so grateful if some kind soul could assist me by telling me exactly what I am doing wrong.
PS... I apologize if these questions have been answered before. Like I mentioned briefly, I really do not have very much time for pilfering through things like settings windows and ini files.
Thanks in advance,
Mitch

Do you (manually) close Everything prior to rebooting?computer reboots
(And I'll assume you are doing a "clean" reboot, & not just hitting the reset button on the computer case .)
Is your desktop shortcut (Properties) providing any switches to Everything.exe?

Q: Do you (manually) close Everything prior to rebooting? (And I'll assume you are doing a "clean" reboot, & not just hitting the reset button on the computer case .)
A: Most of the time I do clean reboots, yes. There are occasional power outages that I cannot control, mostly weather related, but nonetheless... Additionally, I do not use the Power button or Reset button on the pc case to reboot, ever, unless there is no other option. It's just how I roll.
Q: Is your desktop shortcut (Properties) providing any switches to Everything.exe?
A: Unknown. I do not use desktop shortcuts to run Everything. It loads with windows, and in the event that ES crashes, I always use the auto installer created start menu icon / shortcut.
UPDATE: I have changed the setting suggested above by "void" and so far it's holding, but no reboots or power downs have occurred.
And thank you to everyone who is trying to assist me. Your actions are much appreciated.
