Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but the search history seems to be a hit and miss affair. Sometimes the search parameters are saved sometimes they're not.
It's quite important for me that the history is saved straight away.
Everything history
Re: Everything history
The current search is added to the search history when one of the following occurs:
- Pressing Enter in the search edit.
- Opening a file or folder.
- Cutting a file or folder.
- Copying a file or folder.
- Right clicking on a file or folder.
- Drag dropping a file or folder.
- Copying the path or path and filename of a file or folder to the clipboard.
- Renaming a file or folder.
- Deleting a file or folder.
Re: Everything history
Thanks, got it...I don't usually press enter after I've entered text. presumably it's not possible for search text to appear in history without pressing enter as every character would go into history?
Also, I think this was mentioned before, any chance of a GO button in the search bar?

Re: Everything history
Correct. What has been suggested before is to have a small delay after typing, say 3 seconds and then add the current search to the search history, but this can pollute your search history. Thanks, got it...I don't usually press enter after I've entered text. presumably it's not possible for search text to appear in history without pressing enter as every character would go into history?
Please consider disabling search as you type:
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the UI tab on the left.
- Uncheck Search as you type.
- Click OK.
Yes, this is on my TODO list. Also, I think this was mentioned before, any chance of a GO button in the search bar?
This is also needed for when search as you type is disabled.
