Monitor file modifications

Post by RudaFolls »

I couldn't find anything so i think it doesn't exists yet...

I am looking for a feature where I can add files to a "monitor list" so I get notified when the file is modified or deleted (optional: file is created in folder).
It doesn't have to be a popup or something - just a list that you can clear so you can check it from time to time.
Important is that it is not restricted to local system - so it could check network shares - and runs the list after my PC is switched on again.

Is anything like that possible ?

Thank you, for this great application!

Modified, you could do something like:

dm:today

sorting by the Date Modified column.

Deletions are not tracked.

Nirsoft: FolderChangesView - Monitor files changes on Windows

FolderChangesView is a simple tool that monitors the folder or disk drive that you choose and lists every filename that is being modified, created, or deleted while the folder is being monitored.

You can use FolderChangesView with any local disk drive or with a remote network share, as long as you have read permission to the selected folder.

It is like having an Excel file where i write down the latest changes. dm:today would mean i have to do it everyday which is not possible.

I am aware of that program. Problem here is that your computer has to be running 24/7 which is also not possible.

Thank you for the suggestions anyway.

I don't want to be disrespectful but it is missing the point.
If I have a list with 200 files I want to monitor - am i supposed to look them all one by one ?
There are a lot folders/files on that shared drive. My computer is not running every day - means I have to quickly catch up the changes - if there were some (at all). Because of that with rc:today - i wouldn't see them at all!
Also there are a lot of files that are changing daily - which are not relevant for me.
Everything is already monitoring changes - so it just have to have a small catalog for specific file where it compares the date/size/.. and prints it to a list / a notification or whatever..

Nope sry
I googled a lot and am not looking for alternatives. I asking the dev what he thinks about that feature (maybe he thinks is is useful and easy to implement). If he says no I am absolutely ok with that!
