Sorry for the basic question, new user, but how do you sort so that all the most recently modified files always appear at the top.
I have tried Sort ascending and descending, but this doesn't appear to work.
Sort order
Re: Sort order
In Everything 1.3, right click on the background in the result list, from the Sort by menu, click Date recently changed.
In Everything 1.4, enable Fast date modified sort from Tools -> Options -> Indexes and click the date modified column header in the result list.

Re: Sort order
Thank you very much for the reply, but this is not working. I have 1.3.4....
In Options/Home/Sort - I have Date Modified (Ascending) selected.
And in Results - I have Sort date descending first, and Sort size descending first, both unselected.
If that's any help.
I have the interface configured so that the date column is the first column. Your suggestion doesn't seem to make any difference to this column.
I have thousands for (document) files that I am always searching, and am almost always working on the most recently modified, so if they are not at the top, I will never find them.
Thanks....

Re: Sort order
Everything 1.3 doesn't index date modified information. The sort will reset to by name when you change the search parameters.
Also note that "Date modified" is different to "Date recently changed".
Date recently changed information is indexed in Everything 1.3.
Only files that have changed since Everything was started are included in "Date recently changed".
To include more files in recent changes (usually up to a week ago) enable Include USN Jouranl in recent changes for each NTFS volume in Tools -> Options -> NTFS.
-or-
I highly recommend trying the Everything 1.4 beta, enable Fast date modified sort from Tools -> Options -> Indexes and click the date modified column header in the result list.

Re: Sort order
Ah, yes! Lovely. That works now.
The importance of this for me is that, for example, if I do a search on "affidavit" I get 498 hits. If the most recently modified do not appear at the top I can't find the file I need. I do this sort of thing maybe 40 or 50 times a day.
Thanks.
