Folder deleted but still shown as a hit

Post by terrypin »

I deleted a large folder called \TEMP-GPX on an external 2GB HD. Yet a search for \TEMP-GPX still produces hits for that folder.

How did you delete the directory?
Through Everything? Or some other utility?
Approx. how many files/subdirectories were in that tree?

Is it only that one directory that (still) turns up or are there files/subdirectories that show too?

Might you have the Index for that drive set to not monitor changes?
Or might you have it in there twice? Once as a "regular" NTFS drive & once as a File List or similar?

When you say, "Refresh", that's an Index (Force) Rebuild?
(In odd circumstance, more apt to occur with "too long file name", a Force Rebuild is needed for [a particular] file to be seen or to "disappear".)

Many (it was a backup of My Documents , alias \Docs).

The extract of the many results I showed in my screenshot were varied and I didn't examine too closely after seeing that at least one deleted folder was still included.

However ... the good news is that this morning a repeat of that search no longer includes \TEMP-GPX

There's been no re-boot. So it's puzzling why this wasn't the case several hours after the deletion. Any thoughts?
