Deleting files - Searching for both directory and name

Post by firewater »

Hello. First of all thanks for this great software, it's absolutely essential to my computer use, and I hope to keep using it years down the road.

My questions are:

1. How come I cant delete a decent chunk of files from an external drive? I'm 99% positive that this always works on my local drive, but, for example, if I want to delete all the AlbumArtSmall.jpg files located on my music drive, selecting all of them and deleting won't do anything. If I select just a few, then they are effectively removed, but selecting more than five will result in the action being ignored.

2. I'm pretty sure at one time I had the option to search for both directory and name on the input field. This meaning, if I wanted to find the file germany.jpg under the folder Architecture, then I would write architecture germany.jpg and it would appear, but now it seems to only search for filenames so I get blank results if I do this.

Hope you can help!

1. two thoughts.

path too long kind of thing. one or more of the selected files are in a path that is "too long" (so > ~256 chars) kind of thing, causing the operation on the whole block of files to abort. or similarly it could be a permissions issue where you don't have sufficient permission to delete a particular file(s), so again the whole operation aborts.

stinks that that happens. you would think (Windows) would delete those it could & leave those it couldn't as they were.

2. Ctrl+U, Match Path.

1. This makes sense. Oh, well. It isn't too bad.
2. Nice!

Thank you!
