In the last few days I've found that on opening Everything there are no files to search. The first time it happened I restarted the program and it automatically began the lengthy indexing process on my HDs and I did a few searches and minimised to my XP sytem tray as usual. But then on next opening, the same thing happened. And once more today. Can you help me isolate and fix the issue please?

Opening with no files
Re: Opening with no files
What version?
Maybe you have checked "hide results when the search is empty"
Try clean version with default settings - portable.

Re: Opening with no files
Version 1.3.4.686 (x86)
I didn't say there were no search results, but no "no files to search"! Entering anything as a target produced nothing. Perhaps the entire index, Everything.db, is somehow being deleted?
(I do have 'Hide results when the search is empty' enabled, which is my preference.)

Re: Opening with no files
Is REGEX, or some other filter enabled?
Did you try force recreate the .db?

Re: Opening with no files
Thanks.

No
Did you try force recreate the .db?
No, I hadn't been aware of that button until now. I've done it as mentioned by closing and re-starting the program. Obviously takes a long time as I have 1.5 TB capacity of two internal HDs and 6TB in three external, total 7.5 TB, of which maybe 70% used.
BTW, why is the Database location field empty here?
@salazor: I don't think a new version will help, given that, as I said, this problem has only recently emerged. And it's intermittent. I've had several successful searches since my post. In addition, I've occasionally been entering a character to confirm it's still delivering results (about half a million for 'x'.) Still a puzzle though.

Re: Opening with no files
If this field is empty is the database file is where everything.exeterrypin wrote: BTW, why is the Database location field empty here?
If you enter a path that Everything.db will be transferred there.
