Version 1.3.4.686 (x64)
Since some day in the past - don't know in what context it actually happened - my machine, a Windows 7 Pro SP1, went slow in the sense that it takes about 3-5 minutes until Everything's prompt for elevated privileges pops up. During this time also the network idler in the task bar is active, although network connectivity already exists at that point in time.
Also clicking on the Everything icon in the task bar results in no action happening.
While Everything seems to start immediately when I then go into the startup menu and choose the program directly.
Any clue by what tools I could narrow down the cause for this slowness?

Everything slow on startup (machine boot)

Why use that instead of the Everything Service?

Does the shortcut do anything more then simply executing, everything.exe?
Is it sending any options to Everything?

Re: Everything slow on startup (machine boot)
You may be right about better using ET as a service, but actually I hate this inflation of services. Every vendor, EPSON,Adobe, what not, is installing a service. What do they want from me?therube wrote:> prompt for elevated privileges

It isn't a shortcut, it's that what ET installs in the taskbar.
