Double results showing

Post by ramzi »

Every search produces two results for the same item. ie. if I search for myphoto.jpg I get 2 lines of the same jpg in the same folder looking something like this:

NAME PATH
myphoto.jpg C:\Users\ramzi\Documents\My Pictures\
myphoto.jpg C:\Users\ramzi\Documents\My Pictures\

I looked everywhere in the Options and Help and the Forum but cannot work out why this suddenly started to happen. Furthermore, when I delete one line, it asks me if I want to delete the other. If I click CANCEL, the second line disappears.

Please remove any duplicated folder indexes from Tools -> Options -> Folders.

These folders are probably already indexed as NTFS volumes (under Tools -> Options -> NTFS).

Well, I see two similar items but when I delete one of them, it still detects the other and asks me if I want to delete it as well. If I click on Cancel both the message and the 'extra' file disappear.

BTW, thank you for the instruction; it worked and I now get one result per search.

There is no "extra" file.
There was no duplication of files.

There was only "duplication" in terms that the same file was displayed twice.
Once by virtue of finding it by NTFS.
Once by virtue of finding it by Folder.

When you deleted one, there was only ever one, so deleting one "deletes" both (if you will).
IOW if your intention was to leave one "copy", there never was any copy, & the file is simply gone.

(And I'll assuming there is a timing difference in the update from each end, NTFS/Folder, so it may have appeared to still be there, for some short period of time.)
