Everything.exe - Entry Point Not Found

Post by mikeymo »

I'm getting the error attached when I start Search Everything. I'm using the 64 bit version and have to click through that error three times, then Search Everything pops up. After I close Search Everything, I cannot use the shortcut to open it back up. It's like it goes through the same process every time I try to open it like I'm starting the application new each time.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall with restarts and that does not resolve the issue. Is there something I need to do with the registry?

What OS?
What CPU?
What version of Everything?

Search tends to point to MS Visual C++ Runtimes.
Says to install, but run the uninstall routine from the setup itself, then install again.
(Can't say I've done it, so can't say if it works that way.)

See if that gets things going?

Now what version of the MS VC++ runtimes ...?
Who knows, try 2013's, Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013.

Windows 7 SP1 and version 1.3.4.686. I was able to figure this out, it had to do with installing the 32 bit version accidentally, uninstalling and then trying to reinstall the 64 bit version again.

Here is the order of actions I took:
- Uninstalled 64 bit version (can't remember which one) to install 1.3.4.686
- Accidentally grabbed the 32 bit version and installed it
- Realized I had the 32 bit version, uninstalled it (from Control Panel, doesn't look like uninstall from running the actual installer works)
- Tried to install the 64 bit version and saw the error I posted. Clicked through it and it finished installing, but every time I opened it, would get the error message again.

I then downloading the 32 bit version again, uninstalled the 64 bit version, reinstalled the 32 bit version and it works fine now. It does look like I am unable to get the 64 bit version to work on my workstation now, so there may be something with the uninstaller for 32 bit that needs to be cleaned up so an install of the 64 bit version can be installed after a 32 bit install has been laid down and removed.

Thanks again for the help @therube!
