[Solved]Files/Folders not shown in search results

Post by AkshayCS »

Hi,

I am using Everything (Version 1.3.4.686 (x64)) on Win 8.1.
I don't see the contents of the folder "C:\Users\*" in search results.
If I type C:\Users\ in the search, it displays the other folders ("Public" and "Default") but not my "username" folder. I have even tried typing "C:\Users\<username>\", the search result is empty.

I have even tried deleting "Everything.ini" file. Nothing works. But, when i manually add my username folder from the "folders" tab from Everything Options to the list there, the contents of my username folder is shown in the search results.

There seems to be many missing files/folders. I am not aware of the other missing files/folders. I am saying this because, there are around 6,00,000 files/folders in my HD, but currently Everything shows only around 2,61,000 objects.

Any help regarding the issue would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Please make sure regex is disabled from the Search menu.
Please make sure all search options are disabled from the Search menu.
Please make sure that the current filter is set to Everything.

Please make sure you are not excluding this folder in Tools -> Options -> Exclude.
Excluding system or hidden files maybe excluding this folder.

Is this folder a junction / reparse point ? Everything does not follow junction / reparse point folders.

If the files are still not found, please try forcing a rebuild from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force rebuild.

If the files are still not found, please run Everything in debug mode, force a rebuild from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force rebuild and look for the following line in the debug console:

Code: Select all

removed 19669 orphaned files in 0.012454 seconds
How many orphaned files were removed?

If there are orphaned files and folders does running chkdsk find any errors?

Thanks for your reply.
It seems I had my C-Drive with errors.
Repairing the drive fixed it. Thanks :D
